Projects / Support for Young Athletes
Educational opportunities
for young tennis players
About the project
The Marta Kostyuk Foundation works with Ukraine Global Scholars (UGS) to help Ukrainian school students, including young tennis players, combine their sporting development with an international education. The partnership began in 2024 with the signing of a memorandum of understanding. Our shared goal is to create more opportunities for students to gain admission to leading educational institutions abroad, particularly in the United States, and to receive full academic and sports scholarships.

Barriers to Education
Lack of Information and support
Not all families are aware of available educational programmes and scholarships, and without guidance it can be difficult to navigate admission requirements and choose the right path.
Complex Application Process
Preparing for international tests, writing personal statements, securing references and attending interviews requires time, knowledge and a high level of English.
Financial Barriers
The cost of test preparation, application fees, tuition and living abroad can be unaffordable for many families.
A Partnership That Creates Opportunities
Together with Ukraine Global Scholars, we are working to give young Ukrainian athletes more opportunities to pursue education abroad. UGS is a Ukrainian non-profit organisation that has helped more than 350 secondary school students secure scholarships to study at leading educational institutions around the world, including Harvard, Stanford, Columbia and Princeton, since 2015. Each year, the organisation runs a competitive selection process and supports participants as they prepare their applications through educational programmes and mentoring.
