Where the Grand Slam tournaments are played

Grand Slam tournaments are the four most prestigious events in world tennis. This is where the sport’s biggest titles are won, sporting legends are made, and matches that remain part of tennis history for years take place.

Each Grand Slam tournament is held in a different part of the world and has its own atmosphere. The Australian Open is associated with the heat of Melbourne, Roland Garros with the clay courts of Paris, Wimbledon with grass courts and long-standing traditions, and the US Open with night matches and the energy of New York.

Australian Open — Australia, Melbourne

The Australian Open opens the Grand Slam season in January. The tournament takes place in Melbourne and is often played in extreme heat, which becomes an additional challenge for players.

Matches are played on hard courts, and the tournament is known for its large arenas, night sessions, and modern facilities. For many players, the Australian Open becomes the first major test of the new season.

Roland Garros — France, Paris

Roland Garros takes place in Paris from late May to early June. It is the only Grand Slam tournament played on clay courts.

Clay courts change the nature of the game: rallies become longer, and matches require greater endurance, patience, and tactical play. That is why Roland Garros is often considered one of the most demanding tournaments of the season.

Wimbledon — England, London

Wimbledon takes place in London in June and July. It is the oldest tennis tournament in the world and the only Grand Slam played on grass courts.

The tournament is famous for its traditions, including the all-white dress code for players and traditions that remain an important part of the tournament today. For many, Wimbledon remains the symbol of classic tennis, with its grass courts, British weather, and long-standing traditions.

US Open — United States, New York

The US Open closes the Grand Slam season and takes place in New York in late August and September.

The tournament is played on hard courts. The US Open is often described as the loudest Grand Slam tournament: night matches, the atmosphere of New York, and the energy of Arthur Ashe Stadium create a completely different atmosphere from the other Grand Slam tournaments of the season.
