Marta Kostyuk Foundation’s Prep School: Applications Open for a New Intake of Young Tennis Players
The Marta Kostyuk Foundation has opened applications for a new intake of Prep School, an educational project that helps Ukrainian tennis players prepare for admission to schools abroad and explore opportunities to combine sport with quality education.
For many young athletes, studying abroad offers an opportunity to continue developing their tennis skills, gain international experience and receive a quality education. However, the admissions process often requires academic preparation, English language proficiency, the ability to present oneself effectively and an understanding of how international applications work, alongside sporting achievements.
To support young tennis players on this journey, the Marta Kostyuk Foundation established Prep School, helping participants prepare for the next stage of their education and sporting development.
Building on the first intake
The first Prep School intake marked an important step in the development of the Foundation’s educational programmes. Thirteen young tennis players successfully completed the programme, six of whom reached the final stage of the selection process for Ukraine Global Scholars (UGS), with two ultimately selected for the 2026 programme. Ukraine Global Scholars is a charitable programme that helps talented Ukrainian students gain admission to leading schools and colleges worldwide and secure scholarships.
Building on this experience and feedback from participants, the Foundation continues to develop Prep School and has opened applications for a new intake, with registration starting on 27 October 2026.
What does the programme include?
Prep School combines academic preparation, practical sessions and mentoring support. The programme covers key areas that help participants prepare for international educational and scholarship opportunities:
- Educational opportunities abroad. An introduction to the US education system, collegiate tennis, athletic scholarships and the admissions process.
- Preparation for international tests. Understanding the structure of the SAT Math section and the Duolingo English Test, along with strategies for approaching both assessments.
- Personal statements and applications. Developing personal stories, writing essays, completing applications and presenting individual achievements.
- Communication and self-presentation. Building confidence in interviews, public speaking and effective communication.
- Mentoring and shared experiences. Meeting people with first-hand experience of combining sport and education abroad.
Who is Prep School for?
The programme is designed for Ukrainian tennis players in grades 8–11 who want to continue developing their sporting abilities, are considering studying abroad and are ready to dedicate time and effort to their preparation.
Sessions take place online every Saturday for four hours over eight weeks. This format allows participants to combine the programme with their tennis training and school commitments.
Prep School also helps participants better understand the requirements of international scholarship programmes, including Ukraine Global Scholars, and prepare for their competitive selection processes.
How to apply
Applications for the new Prep School intake open in October 2026. The eight-week programme requires active participation in sessions, independent study and a committed approach to preparation.
The selection process consists of several stages:
- Application submission. Completing the registration form to apply for the programme.
- Parent interview. An introductory conversation to discuss expectations and the family’s readiness to support the participant throughout the programme.
- Participant interview. A conversation about the applicant’s motivation, educational goals and plans for further sporting and academic development. Part of the interview will be conducted in English.
Following the selection process, a new group of Prep School participants will be formed. Applications are open until 13 November 2026.
We believe that the talent and determination of Ukrainian athletes deserve opportunities to grow. Through Prep School, the Marta Kostyuk Foundation aims to help young tennis players take a confident step towards a future where quality education and sporting ambitions go hand in hand.
